Southern California Code Camp, November 21-22, 2009

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

Southern California Code Camp

University of Southern California

November 21-22, 2009

Code Camps are FREE Events!

This year’s SoCalCodeCamp @USC is the weekend immediately following Microsoft’s PDC @ the LA Convention Center.  We expect to draw high-caliber presenters from PDC presenters and attendees alike!

Code Camp is a place for developers to come and learn from their peers. This community driven event has become an international trend where peer groups of all platforms, programming languages and disciplines band together to bring emerging content and best practices to the community.

Who is speaking at Code Camp? YOU are, YOUR PEERS are, and YOUR LOCAL EXPERTS are…all are welcome! This is a community event and one of the main purposes of the event is to have local community members step up and offer some cool presentations! Don’t worry if you have never given a presentation before, we’ll give you some tips if you need help, and this a great opportunity to spread your wings. Of course, we do have some ringers on our speaker list as well…

We have 48 sessions posted a full seven weeks ahead of event-day.  We expect this number to double by event day.  stay tuned…

To RSVP for the event, please visit http://www.socalcodecamp.com.  Once you register with the site, please click on the RSVP button.  Don’t forget to visit the Sessions page and check your sessions of interest!  We use this information to assign high-interest sessions to larger rooms.

Attendees, Speakers, Sponsors, and Volunteers will also find additional information at our companion site http://www.lacodecamp.com.

Also, don't forget to join us for Geek Dinner at Casey's Bar and Grill in Downtown LA after Saturday sessions.  As always it's free food and drinks (2) for the first 150 attendees to Code Camp so please sign up early during registration.  It's a great way to relax and chill with friends and presenters after a marathon of sessions.

Thanks & see you at Code Camp!

A Look at Microsoft’s “Oslo” Modeling Platform

Microsoft’s “Oslo” project is a major initiative that represents a wave of technologies aimed at making it easier to construct, deploy and manage distributed applications and services. It is an evolution of SOA technologies, encompassing Windows Communications Foundation, the next version of .NET, BizTalk Server, Windows Workflow Foundation, Visual Studio and more. Using those technologies as a starting point and building on them, Oslo also introduces modeling tools and a repository that allow the creation of role-based tools that can be used throughout an application’s lifecycle.

The impact Oslo will have on the developer community using Microsoft tools cannot be understated.  The goal of "Oslo" is to provide a 10x productivity gain by making model-driven applications mainstream with domain-specific models, languages, and tools. In this session we will take an early look at the architecture, some of the capabilities and tools that Oslo provides and enables.

The next SoCal .NET Architecture meeting on will be Thursday March 20, 2008 at Rancho Santiago Community College District,2323 N. Broadway, Santa Ana. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm, pizza and networking 6:30 pm. Meeting cost is $5 to help us cover the cost of food and beverages.
